About us
Adams and Company was started in 1865 to serve the stationery, magazine and book needs of the colonial community. The business grew with the town as Durban was the port to which most people going to the interior sailed and the equipment was mainly shipped through it. During the 1930’s Depression the business moved into its present city centre building, and as the city spread it opened branches.
Unisa Books, academic books for a number of academic institutions and general books are now stocked at the 341 West Street branch to which web orders from this site are directed. We also carry stock of Unisa books at 33 Victoria Street, Durban, Musgrave Centre, Durban, at 230 Church Street Pietermaritzburg and Nedbank Building, 57 Heerengracht, Cape Town. As official UNISA suppliers we try to carry stocks of books for all except the very small courses. Books for the other institutions are also stocked carefully and systematically with airfreight top-ups coming weekly from overseas in the busy periods. Not all our stock is listed on the website so do e-mail us for other books as well.
